It started out fairly mellow.
Our friend, Rick, said we could stay at his place since it was relatively close, concrete (not wood!), and halfway underground.
His upstairs neighbor even brought us home-made empanadillas!!!
With our water, supplies, candles, and emapanadillas we were good to go.
The thing that worried us most were the predictions.
We were tracking the storm as best we could and holding our breath..
The sky darkened, the power had long since gone out, and I kept thinking,
“If this lil guy can hold out, we’ll be alright too…”
The police were making the rounds, but theirs were some of the only lights on the streets.

I read 1984 by candlelight,
we listened to some stand-up comedy on Eddie’s phone before it died,
but the best part was when he taught me how he plays Dominoes!!! :]
That’s how we escaped Hurricane Irma,
Hunkered down, smoking rollies, reading, and playing Dominoes with my sweetie <3
Thankfully, She turned and headed north-west at the very last minute,
but we still felt her presence as she swept past…
Luckily, we were well informed and had time to prepare.
Thank goodness the extent of the damage was mostly downed trees, branches, and power lines!!!
Thanks to these guys’ hard work, we got power back about a day and a half ago.
but the water’s still kinda iffy…
That’s about as bad as it got.
I’m just glad the Cabin Survived!!!
We were extremely lucky with the outcome.
This is predicted to be a very active year,
so keep a watch on the weather and Stay Safe!!!
<3
Thank you for all your prayers and support!!!
Please also say a prayer for everyone else who was effected by the recent wave of hurricanes.
We got off pretty easy here, but lots of others were not so lucky…
