As I write this, I am still in the safe house. Our friend, Sean, said we could stay at his place this time.
Rick, and many others, have recently left the island. This will be our fourth night here.
At least this time we (thought we) knew what to expect…
We made sure to power all devices and backup chargers before we lost power.
Already holding the surger for me, I brought it’s brother and my bag to Sean’s.
We brought along food as well.
We did some prep. as well.
Eddie took a nap,
The sky darkened
and the rain came in spurts.
We enjoyed a lovely sunset,
the calm before the storm…
All we could do was wait
and pray…
We Hunkered down,
Sean made a torch
from a solar-powered light and a stick,
and we taught him how to play dominoes:
We made some food by candlelight.
We played some games.
And then the night came…
and with it, the rain.
It was still raining when we awoke…
…and it rained all day.
And another night…
…and another day.
Then a piece of corrugated aluminum came off the side of the house,
and the wind kept getting caught underneath and causing loud banging.
All through the night, the wind howled on to the beat of this drum…
A few friends even joined in the dance!!!
Pretty Scary stuff,
but the storm wasn’t the worst part.
It was The Aftermath…
