Every year I like to craft little presents for my friends and co-workers.

I usually start brainstorming/construction about a month or so before Christmas.

This year totally slipped away from me.

It being 80 and sunny every day mighta had something to do with it…

I saw pics on the FBs of Portland covered in ice and snow,

but I just can’t get into it without crafting!

So this year, I decided (the day before Christmas) to make chocolate trees!!!

Saw these lil guys online, and being the chocolate fanatic I am, wanted to make them for my friends and coworkers.

You will need:

1 bag Hershey’s kisses

2 bags mini Reese’s cups

3 pkgs individually wrapped Reese’s peanut butter cups

icing

and

SPRINKLES!!!

I also made some chocolate mouse to hold the trees together.

I used Jello chocolate instant pudding mix and 1 cup milk, 1 cup heavy cream

(instead of the box’s directions of 2cups milk) to make the mouse,

but the internet said to use melted chocolate. It’s up to you : ]

I used a ziplock with a cut in the tip to make a piping bag.

Now we’re ready to assemble!!!

  • Unwrap peanut butter cups.

(I kept them in the fridge till I was ready to use to make them easier to work with.)

  • Use the bottom paper from the Reese’s packaging as a place card and turn a mini upside-down in the center of it.

This is the trunk of your tree.

  • Pipe a dollup of mouse on top of the mini and stack a regular sized cup upside-down on top of the mini

to create the first layer of the tree.

  • Pipe a little mouse on top of another mini cup.

Stack it upside-down on top of the first layer.

  • Now pipe a little mouse on the bottom of a Hershey’s kiss and put it on top of the mini cup

to finish the structure of the tree!!!

Now its time to decorate!!!

I used Betty Crocker Cake Icing in green in-between the layers of chocolate

to cover the seams and add a little color.

Then I added sprinkles to give the trees a festive look!!!

A forest of lil chocolate trees!!!

I kept the trees in the fridge for a couple hours to let the icing and mouse solidify before wrapping them.

I used green cellophane wrapping and thread to wrap them,

but if I had a choice I’d present them on a platter.

I had to bike into town with them, and they got a little smushed…

But they Loved em, even if they were a lil crooked : ]

There’s just something about chocolate

that makes working a double on Christmas

kinda not so bad…

That and the Homies.
