For a few months now, my Homie has been adding Punk patches to their stash. They would occasionally show me their growing Collection and tell me to keep my eyes open for a men’s shirt that we could turn into an Upcycled Punk Vest.
I told ‘em I’d keep my eyes open, but I wasn’t exactly anticipating finding one in the middle of a global pandemic.
( Plus I was kinda secretly hoping they would give me the Commission, but didn’t wanna be imposing about it… 🙋♀️🤷♀️)
Then once it became apparent that it was gonna be a Long Time before we were gonna be able to go shopping, they Finally asked me if I could make the vest for them!!!
I drafted the pattern using a modified version of a pattern I had previously made of a men’s button-down.
I whipped up a mock-up in this fabulous pink fabric so we could have do a fitting.
Everything seemed pretty spot on with the pattern, so we pulled our denim piles and I cut apart a few pairs of jeans!!!
I added “Alice in Wonderland” style pockets to the Lining.
I also put snap or Velcro closures on everything so nothing falls out during motorcycle travel.
The Final Product!!!
My Homie plans to add a Unicorn patch/paint job to the central back panel, and we still have to add more Punk patches & studs, but other than that it’s ready for the Road!!!
